Vacation Bound

Hello Guys and Gals. Frog Legs and I are ready for some R&R so we will be MIA for a bit. See you guys when we return!

Product Review: e.l.f. Studio Bronzer

Noting that I have more of a fair complexion, I wanted to add a tint of sun without actually suntanning my face- this is where bronzer can become my bff. Since I needed to pick up a new bronzer, I went wandering Target and  found e.l.f.'s new Studio Bronzer for $3.
e.l.f. Studio Bronzer in Golden Bronzer
According to e.l.f.'s website, Golden Bronzer: An illuminating shimmer that is subtle and radiant. Ideal for summer or year-round. Well, I brought it home and used my EcoTools Powder Brush (one of my fave bronzer applicators by the way), I found the bronzer power to be light and with the little bit of shimmer. It brings just the right amount of color for my fair face - without looking too orange and dorito-like. Anyone who has fair skin knows it is very hard to find a good bronzer that does not overpower the color of your skin tone. I found this cheapie to be perfect.

Friday Inspiration: The Bold and the Beautiful

Via Lilly's Style
This week we are going BOLD!! In a big way. There are a lot of way to incorporate bold colors- even if you are shy to adding too much bright, vivid color to your summer wardrobe. Adding a few pieces here and there will sure vamp up your options for amazing styles. And, no, you do not have to break the bank to do it!! Maybe for those of you who are a bit more apprehensive to adding a bright color, just add one piece, like shorts, for a huge impact. If you want to go a bit bolder, try a bright bold and patterened skirt or bold top.

There are a ton of great options in store now that will not break the bank to own. Again, if you are experimenting with things, you do not have to go overboard to have a few great pieces to try out. If you are willing to find something a bit outside the box, try this amazing dress for only $23. Super cute, a bit bold and yet, perfect for most occassions. If you want to make your accessories pop, try this cute envelope clutch by Asos for $29. I have found similar options at Marshall's and TJMaxx, so feel free to shop around for envelope clutches, because they are everywhere! If you are in the mood to splurge on an item, try this cute bold skirt. It is a bit higher than a budget-friendly item (priced at $117), but it will bring a pop of color to any cute date or errands run.

DIY Project: It'll Be Curtains

My Instagram
I have been meaning to put curtain up in my kitchen/dining room area in mi casa. It has been quite a time for me to find colors that I want that match my lime/salsa colored kitchen. Most of the colors/patterns just were not 'me'. My style is a bit retro modern (think 70's designs updated for today).
I have found so many great bloggers that made their own DIY curtains, that I could not poass up an opportunity to do it myself! So, I did!! Using these brushed-nickel looking clips and a silver curtain rod on clearance for $4.50, I was able to make curtains from yes, a shower curtain.

I will post pics soon of the finished product- and the tour of our place!

Found a New Fabric

My Instagram
Happy Sunday folks! I was lucky enough to find the best fabric at my local fabric store on sale last weekend. I am planning on using her for an upcoming scarf project I wanted to attempt. Isn't she pretty? I call her bohemian sass! She is a sheer navy colored fabric with paisley designs. Very pretty. Any ideas on what to make the rest of her into???

DIY Project: Anthro Necklace

My Instagram
I love Anthropologie - but not the prices! So, I always try to find a way to make my own items if i an - especially if I make them cheaper than I can buy them. One of my favorite bloggers I follow is Of Pinks and Fairytales and she made this amazing Anthro Necklace I had been eyeballing not too long ago. Well, I wanted to make my own- and one that would work with some new orange shirts I purchased.
I went to Hobby Lobby and picked up the following items:
  • 1 strand beads- this is my main color selection (similar) $4.00
  • 1 silver connector necklace - my other half accent of the piece (similar) $4.00
  • total project cost: $8.00
I used some spare parts from my chain remaining from spare chain I had leftover from the owl necklace - and using a claw clasp, it finally came together and I absolutely love it. What do you think?

Friday Inspiration: Patterned

I am a HUGE fan of these bright patterns and colors that designers are incorporating everywhere we turn.
Bright Colors
I am finding a lot of these patterns in this years summer shirts, dresses and skirts. Too adorabs! Tribal patters and making a comeback in a big way - just like chevron and 70's retro designs. Bring on the color for summer!! Find hints in accessories as well.
Via Apartment Therapy
Patterns are not just seen in what we wear, but there is also a large mix into our home decor. Imagine how much "pop" you can bring to your space with just one piece. I am loving the subtle hints of pattern just as much as the overabundance of it.

Product Review: Bed Head Conditioner

TIGI Bed Head's Treat Me Right
I am a big fan of Bed Head products and I am always up for trying something new on my hair. I have a love/hate relationship with my hair -and, well let's admit it ladies, I am not the only one. In that search for the perfect product, I was lucky enough to snag the large pump version (just like the one in the photo) from TJ Maxx for $7 on Clearance!! I know, lucky lady here! What a Budget Buy! Anyway, my first impression of the product is by far the smell. If you love peppermint candy, this conditioner is for you. The smell is quite refereshing in the morning to wake up to so it brings that 'fresh' scent to the shower. Now, the product is suppose to work on all types of hair (fine/thin to curly/thick). After a couple of uses,  I have noticed a small difference on the ends of my hair ( I have fine/thin hair, I prefer to not completely coat my hair -just about half way down my head to my ends) but the difference is not something dramatic. Any hair mask will do the same job.  I may just it here and there for a conditioning mask once a week, but it has not changed my mind about switching to this product full-time. le sigh! The search continues to find the best products for my hair.
Tell me...do you have any products that you love? Any recommendations?

Friay Inspiration: What Inspires You?

This Friday, I wanted to show inspiration in another form: true inspiration. I tend to collect images and items that have meaning for me. Something personal - something I feel a connections to. Not necessarily anything spiritual, but just a piece that feels like me. So, here is a piece of me.

Yoga is something I have always wanted to try. After finding so many benefits of doing yoga, I know there is also a health benefit in it. Wouldn't it be awesome to be able to do this? One day sir, one day!
Yoga
Finding my favorite song - the one that just feels like it could bring my life/day/goals all together in just one melody. And, taking that song and displaying it. What a great idea!
Art Work
I cannot make a post - being a southerner - without mentioning tea. I love tea- it is my morning coffee. I love tea. My favorite being mandarin orange, if you are curious. Tea really is soothing and has that calming effect. One of my absolute favorite things to do is grab a cozy sweater on a fall day and wrap up in a blanket with a book and a hot cup of tea. Bliss- true bliss!

Owls....by far one of my favorite animals. Yes, I know. I should love pigs- bacon is my last name. But, no. How can you say no to an owl as cute as this? I cannot. Weak-at-the-knees adorable. I think he needs a sweet pet on the head or a snuggle. Go on!

Owl

So, what inspires my readers? Do you have inspiration from art, music or animals. Maybe you find inspiration other ways. Do tell!
